TB worth boring?

im going to rebuilding my ka24de and am going to be doing a few things to it while at it. my setup is gona basically be:
intake
headers
full straight 2.5" exhaust
sohc pistons
balanced crankshaft
port head on intake side
port matched intake manifold

i think thats basically it. but my question is, is it worth boring my throttle body with the power ill probably be putting out? or would it mostly be reccommended for higher power cars like turbo cars or something. if it is a good idea, what the max bore i should do? thanks

wait wait wait.

You're going to do the high comp KA with no 3inch exhaust?

EDIT: TB not worth boring. TB, single, not cool. ITB's plural, very cool.

Boring the Throttle Body is a good cheap mod. Slight power increase and very good throttle response. But the opening on The Intake Manifold where the Throttle Body bolts up will need to be opened up with a Dremel or Similar tool.

or u can just hack the flange off and weld on a larger tb flange, and use a tb w/ a map sensor and tps sensor.... and get rid of the maf.... in general...

so ive heard of ppl running q45 maf and tb... but this is just what ive heard... nothing seriously seen yet...

I thought the q45 thing is an SR thing...
I'm curious...
Why are you throwing down money on NA KA and not t to the urbo?

I mean even scooter succumbed to the power of the dark side...

Really?

With ITBs, some head work, cams, headers, exhaust and a standalone! I don't think scooter made more then 175 RWHP

You don't fully understand the full power darkside.
T3 + Mani + SR injectors + Pump + Safc + Sidemount = hello 200 RWHP

boring the TB will do nothing unless you bore the intake plenum i suggest you forget ka na and piece together a turbo kit... it'll be difficult and cost you money but the na set up you speak of is expensive (machine work and balanced crank = $$$$)... if you are set on having high comp then i'm told the best way to do it is SOHC pistons (you had that right), 91 spec cams, z32 fuel filter, exhaust, intake, and if you wanna spend the money a good port polishing job on the head wouldnt hurt...

did you say your putting this in a corolla? i was confused about that statement

trust me dude turbo is way better

do both sides of t/b and intake plenum matched but don't over do it you could use a brake cylinder hone depending on the size and cutting stones you use

some guys are just into n/a
my last 240 was turbo and i dont really like it right now. turbos blow, its expensive, its messy, shit blows off like piping etc, and mine was a simple stock manifold, semi stock piping and upgraded smic w/ gt28r.... anyways turbo=alot of work and alot of mess oil everywhere.

KA Here is the down low on the TB boring.

I had Maxbore.com do my KA24DE TB. The gains are nice. I felt alot on the A$$ dyno. The Torque increased. Its recommended whether your Turboed or NA. THe bottom plenum on the manifold has about a 1-2mm that can be bored out. I plan on boring mine out after I pull the manifold to replace the headgasket during turbo install. Ive inclosed pictures of what maxbore does. He'll take the stock TB (63mm) and bore it to 70mm give are take 1mm. Here is a post and pictures on nicoclub. I did a write up on this mod.

http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=143227

And for the people that think the MAF is a limiting factor that will be going away when Im boosted so its really not an issue.

Cool, I think I might send my RB20 TB and manifold to him for boring (and CLEANING!). Does he send you the matching gasket back with the TB?

Send him a nissan gasket so he can match it and send it back to you. Other wise he will just take it to the max of the equipment.
