Oversized Oil Pan Oil Level Reading Correct at 3 Quarts

Hello everyone,
I have an oversized oil pan on my SR. The weird thing is that, when I change my oil, the dipstick reads between the lines at only 3 quarts. I let the oil drain for about 10 minutes, so I know almost all of it drained. I know the stock oil capacity is 3>3.5 quarts and the oversized is 4>4.5 quarts. I feel the engine sputtering and I don't want it to starve oil. What are my options?

Wishing you all the best,
Carlos Doria

Sometimes dip sticks are wrong.

If it is a Greddy oil pan the capacity is 5 1/2 quarts. Stock is 3 3/4 quarts.

Good luck!

It's a knock off.

Thats odd... I have a real Greddy pan and the dipstick reads correctly with the extra quart of oil. If you have the baffles installed in your pan, they could be trapping oil in the center of the pan and not allowing it to flow out to the sides. Or you may need to wait a while for the oil to level out in the pan.

One thing i noticed is that the greddy pans have a slight indentation where the oil pick up is, and the knock offs dont, did you measure how much clearance there is beteen the bottom of the pan and the oil pick up?

That's an odd measurement to take. But no, I did not measure that. I will be tilting the car more on my next oil change and see what the results are after that.
