wow. thats weird. if it were a piece of metal sticking out where the cam sits then the scratches would go all the way around..it kinda looks like a piece of something got pinned against the wall of the head and just kept scraping the cam away then it broke loose and is now chilling somewhere in your head?

have you opened your valve cover before this incident? maybe they were there for a while...

Hmm...Are there metal filings in the engine, cause that could possibly be pumped through the oil pump, and the rest is a given...

Damn Alex, wasn't this the rebuilt you spent hella skrilla on? Fuck that, go talk to the guys that did it and make them check it out.

You paid for it done right.

But yah, check if anything could be visibly rubbing on it... and for shavings in the oil pan. I can't think of what else could be scraping over there.....

The only moving parts are the retainers and the cam lobes..

Shitty mang, GL.

I imagine your cams were like that from the factory, if you notice it is right in line with the casting flash which may of been partially ground smooth. I dont have a KA cam in front of me (I'll look later) but nothing stuck in the head could cause that without going all the way around.

it looks like it could of almost been a mistake from the factory. i dont think that happened inside the engine. but i could be wrong. Did this happen recently or is this the first time you noticed it?

Yeah i have opened the valve cover before and just didnt notice them. maybe they were facing towards the valves. There are NO moving parts ANYWHERE near the shaft that could make those mark. No shavings anywhere, and i changed my oil that night and didnt notice any floaties... engine runs like a champ. I dunno what it could be. My guess is from factory. If i notice any change in the way the engine runs, im going straight back to my mechanic... cuase that shit is just wierd.

anyway, thanks for the response guys, you rock! one more reason i <3 Zilbeer.
