When I start my car, there's a really annoying LOUD belt noise. It doesn't go away until I hit the gas a few times.
Also, when I turn the steering wheel all the way either to the left or right, I hear the same noise. I popped the hood and had my friend turn the wheel... found out that the pulley on the power steering pump siezes as soon as the wheel is turned all the way (the belt on it keeps on spinning and the friction causes the sound).
what's the fix to this annoying problem? &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='issed:'>

thanks

Make sure your ps fluid is full. Your pulley should never stop turning like you said. Check for any leaks if the fluid is low.

Fluid is the easy first step. &nbsp;The next step (and most probable cause of the noise) &nbsp;is your power steering pump. &nbsp; It has a bearing inside that...after awhile...does what all bearings do and goes to bearing heaven (or hell) &nbsp; &nbsp;This would cause a serious whine on startup (which usually goes away after the car is warm.) &nbsp; The bearing thing would also explain the seizing. &nbsp;

Try the fluid thing first...see if it doesn't at least help. &nbsp; If it doesn't, replace the power steering pump.

hell, it wouldnt hurt to try greasing it. &nbsp;Buy some belt greaser from strauss or something, lube it up, and see if it will change anything.

I don't have a solution for you but i can say that my car just started doing the EXACT same thing. It might be that the belt needs tightning.

If I fix it i'll let you know.

mine squeal above 3500 rpm, i think the belt on the fan is loose b/c at cruising speeds the car heats up to like the 4th of 5 bars on the heat guage. &nbsp;im gonna get some belt dressing to see if that fixes it.
