front wheel fitment

i would like to know how big i can go on my wheels in the front with my s13. Basically, I would like it if anyone with actual personal experience can let me know what size rims (with offset noted) and tire size you are using up front. If you are using spacers to clear coilovers, if so then how big? and if you are running rolled fenders or wide fenders (ie 20mm 30mm 50mm fenders) to clear your offset. I will be most likely running stance coilovers. I have 17x9 rims with a +28mm offset with 255/40/17R tires that i would like to run up front. I know alot of people are using alot thinner wheels up front, i dont want any flaming on the wheels i have now. I want to use them. i just want people's actual experience with wide tires/wheels up front. I will most likely run wide fenders either 20mm or 30mm depending on fitment. and if needed i will use wheel spacers. I am setting my car up for grip not drift so i want a big footprint both up front and in the rear. i am also going even on the wheels both front and rear no staggered setup here. thanks all for your help. I appreciate it greatly.
