KADE Power Steering "loop" purpose

While removing my Hicas from my car today I realized that I would not have the loop that non hicas cars have (for my power steering). The loop I am referring to is the length of hard line that runs to the passenger side and back to the drivers side where it ultimately reaches the rack and pinion. Why does it not go directly from the reservoir to the rack?

I'm sure it has something to do with pressure or something but I was just curious to know how I should go about getting it lined up without hicas.
