What did you do for thanksgiving?. 56k death

For thanksgiving, Martin and I decided to head north to his home town of Milipitas. We had been planning this trip for a while, but one major detail reared its ugly head at nearly the last instant. We were planning to take my Evo, but it started smoking so badly I thought Cheech and Chong were going to pop out from under the hood. I took it in and the diagnosis was TWO blown transfer case seals. No problem, they would have it fixed right before Martin and I had to leave. A few other things popped up that delayed our start, such as me having to go in and work on a day I had off  , but still no Evo. It turns out that they ordered the wrong part.

So faced with no Evo, we had to make a choice. Between two 1990 S13's to make about a 500 mile roadtrip. Not wanting to do a long trip in Martin's cage equipped KA, we decided to take my SR powered Sileighty.
Finally on Wednesday afternoon at about 2pm we were ready to leave the LBC

We headed north along with what appeared to be 5/4 of the greater LA area. 3 hours on the road, and we were in downtown

Here's a photo taken approximatly an hour later (notice the buildings in both pics)

Finally with downtown behind us, we escaped LA in time for an awesome sunset.

From there it was many hours of boring dark highway driving, getting treated to many ricer flyboys by envious Civic owners.
Finally arriving at Martin's mom's house, we were greeted by gigantic cats.

That night we took a short canyon run that was a lot of fun, but Martin promised me that the best was yet to come the next day.
So after having a great thanksgiving dinner, we left at about 2 to search for the ultimate canyon road. Before hand we filled up and bumped up the tire pressure in preparation

After a REALLY short drive, we started heading up the mountain. The course was very long, very narrow, with no guardrails and horrible surface conditions. I was scraping my chin spoiler on every corner, and it was heaven. Finally, after many miles of driving bliss, we made it to the top of the mountain, and decided to push on through to the backside, even though it would mean that we would both be late for dates that night. It was worth it. First off, there was the view:

Second, almost all the backside looked like those: (new wallpaper alert)

After all this fun, we shot back towards Milipitas to hang out with chicks, and had many adventures over the rest of the weekend that are best left to be told another time. On the way back though, we decided to use the super jdm tite Cusco brand tamale cooker:

Hours later we pulled into a gas station and were rewarded with tamales as deliciously warm as Quebec in January. Two days later I was rewarded with the smell of burning crop circles when I forgot to take out the remaining two tamales. ops:
Well I hope everyone had at least half as much fun listening to my story as I had typing it.
