Clutch Master Cylinder Adjustment - How-To

Here is the Pedal and Master cylinder out of the Car and apart.



When you slide the master cylinder through the firewall onto the pedal it looks somthing like this.



Now, when people say "to adjust the pedal/clutch" they are talking about this fork and threaded stud. Here it is all the way extended.



And all the way threaded in.




After everything is setup, you should have a "dead zone" at the top of the pedal about a 1/4". If it is tight all the way up, it may be too far extended, and halfway engaging the clutch.



If the pedal is adjusted too far up with no free play, it may be pre-engaging the clutch. The can lead to the clutch wearing much faster than it should, as well as the clutch slipping under hard acceleration. With the exception of this adjustment, the only reason your clutch will slip is if it is worn and needs to be replaced.
