Painting Engine Block

Anyone who has rebuilt engines, do you paint the exterior??  Also I read somewhere that it is good practice to paint the interior of the block b/c oil runs off of it better..  Is this true b/c I'd hope that the paint doesn't come off sometime but maybe special paint is used or something??
