Hello all,

I've already done a search, and couldn't find very much on my particular problem. I have a '96 5sp with about 77k miles on it. For the past few weeks, my idle had been kinda squirrly. It would be at a nice 800 or so, and then dip to 4-500, like I've read many of them do. Today, as I started accelerating from a stop at a light, my car gave a little shake, as if I had let the clutch out a little too fast. I looked down, and the check engine light was on. Everything felt and sounded normal as I drove around, though. At the next light, however, I noticed that my idle was now at a steady 1400 rpms. It stayed this way at every light from then on. Any suggestions? Could a simple tuneup be the answer, or does the check engine light mean something a little more ominous? Thanks in advance!

- Marty
