Starter install problems!!!

Ok, so I bought a starter for my SINGLE CAM motor, ka24e, the one that they sell at autozone and they fit single and dual cam, so I looked at the shaft where the rotor spins, and my oem one (is now broken) the shaft is like 3 inches smaller than the autozone one, and when I try installing the autozone one, it just doesn't fit correctly, and it hits the back of the starter housing, i tried just forcefully bolting it in hoping it would stay in place, but that was pretty fail, any help on this please? And i've checked MULTIPLE sites and every single site sells the exact same starter for single/dual cam, and I'm just confused cause this thing doesn't fit at ALL =/, autozone part number 16928 i think :P any help appreciated
