Question Rust Removal and Body Repair

Hey guys,

I have a good question for you. I am looking into getting the 240 sx fixed up body wise here soon. It needs alot of rust removal and repairs on the underside of the car.

It also needs a bit of body work here and there all the way around. I also want to do a decent paint job on the car eventually.

So my questions are:

-Should I buy a bunch of tools and try to fix it all on my own?

I know I will need grinders and cutters and a welder. Also, would need to take a lot of time to do this and I am not sure I have the time.

-Are there shops that would just fix up the rust and clean the body up? Maybe do it all one color for now? Would this be expensive?

I am really unsure if I am able to fix up the undercarriage on my own as it does look to be a lot of work, would it be best to cut out and weld in sheet metal? or could the same level of safety be achieved with Fiberglass and some resin?

I know I probably look stupid asking questions of this nature, I just have never had a car that I cared about and wanted to get looking pretty. They were mostly junkers or dd's.

If you have done anything similar in the past ideas on expense for at home versus taking it to a body shop and letting them do everything.

Another thought is will a body shop fix certain things at a time, like this bit of rust for this much and so on. Kind of a slowly but surely getting things taken care of, or do they prefer to just do everything at once?

I really appreciate any and all assistance in this matter.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Jonathan
