Perfect world you would never have to add oil but a quart every oil change is within spec unfortunately. Check cold compression and leak down to make sure the rings aren't gone. As stated above check the pcv system for function and if its full of oil. The KA has it located in a horrible location low on the block behind the alternator. The block that bolts to the timing cover is supposed to be a oil separator. But, over time it gets loaded up with oil and gunk. Take that whole box the pcv screws into off the timing cover and take the PCV out of it then flush it clean with carb cleaner then install a new PCV. Then put the box back on with some RTV. Removing the alternator makes life 10x easier doing this. PCV line is the 4 line to 1 T-Bar to the intake manifold.
