s13 Speed Sensor (VSS) Differences - Q's & pics
I have a '92 dual cam that I manual swapped. The speedo and odometer weren't working consistently when purchased auto, and is still the same after swap, so I figured I'd replace the speed sensor.
Ordered this one off ebay saying it was from a 91-94 manual dual cam. Unfortunately, it is too big to fit into my tranny. I searched around and saw that the automatic VSS is larger in diameter than the manual one, so I want to confirm that. Is it possible the single cam speed sensors are also larger in diameter, or is that only for automatics? I'm not sure what year my trans is. I've circled the main differences below. The one I bought is the pink one, the red I already had. Differences: - diameter of cylinder that inserts into the trans on pink one is larger than red one - black nubby pins are different lengths (don't know if that means anything) - mounting tab is flipped about 180 degrees on pink one, thus the wire harness is on opposite side of sensor If anyone has any knowledge to share about the differences or observations, please share. Curious as to which sensor I ended up actually buying. ![]() ![]() ![]()
