When it comes down to it...I already own 3 SOHC's. In studying both blocks the bottom ends are all identical. The head(SOHC) with a cam and port work will outflow a DOHC head(stock). So that shouldn't hinder me.

I figure Ventura Racing made 700 rwhp a couple of years ago on the SOHC, and the DOHC are just now starting to get up to those power levels. So it'll work for power levels I want.=)
