My only suggestion to you guys is that you should try to make it to the hotel AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, or Speedzone.
If you leave San Jose at 7AM, it will take you at least 7-8 hours to get to LA assuming there is no traffic... but on a Friday, once you get into Ventura County you are guaranteed to hit traffic all the way from Ventura to San Bernadino, a stretch of about 150 miles. I high recommend you to take the I-5 to get down here as fast as possible. The stretch of drive between the San Fernando Valley and where Speedzone is takes about 1-2 hours in traffic, if you are lucky.
