How much castor? Depends on how low you are and how much of a problem you have with hitting the wiring harness or firewall. With my kts on full low and 235/40s and stock castor, I had no problems with hitting the harness. This is because I relocated it to the engine bay, and made a custom plate covering the small portion of it that went from the firewall to the hole leading to the engine bay. The plate kinda tucked the harness flush against the firewall, and I never even rubbed the plate. Again, this was with only like - 7.5 degrees castor (stock at that ride height). Castor is the measure of the inclination of the strut when viewed from the side of the car. Castor determines the amount of camber gain per degree of steering angle. The more castor you have, the more camber you have at full lock. I'm running like 8 degrees castor with my spl rods, but could go up to around 9.5. I have tons of firewall clearance now. Buy yourself some adjustable front tension rods and just play around with the settings untill you find one that gives you the clearance you want. |

plus you wont see the xd9 on many hondas and random cars too. i saw a tacoma with fn's.
caster pulls your wheel forward (more of it). if your doing this just to not hit the wiring harness, you stupid. just relocate it. all you have to do is pull the fender and ziptie it up higher. adding caster will also lower your car, and change the rest of your alignment, it will add - camber, and toe out (i beleive for the toe, couuld be wrong). if your car just parks around, and you drive it to the mall and back it doesnt even matter, if you drive it you might want an alignment after you add caster. you can run between like 6 and 11 degrees of caster. when i was really low i had 11 on one side lol. try like 8-9, then youll need to hammer the front of your fender area. id recomend doing this when your fender is already off for the wiring, just to be safe

Alright, well here's a question for you lowies.
My front end rubs on 17x9 +19 MB gay wheels with 215/45/17's when I drift on anything but a flat surface. It rubs well enough to fuck up a drift, and I have an event coming up I don't want to be dealing with this AT the track. Soo... Should I: A. get 40 series tires (205? No cheap 215/40/17's I can find) B. Lift the front up a bit ![]() C. Just keep sledging the wheel wells (it doesn't seem to be doing anything anymore. I think it's sledged out.) D. Adjust my tension rods? Should this be done by a professional alignment shop or should I just do it ghetto style like everything else. E. Eat crap and die. |

Use 235/40/17 up front and whatever else you have out back. When you are done at the end of the day, put the 235/40/17 out back and the 215's up front but make sure you have enough room for them back there or just dial in the camber to clear.

XD9's are more like the new Work Emotion CR Kai if anything. (I have a feeling Agle Minerva's will be the rich man's XD9 soon enough....)

haha, what I said was based on the interest that Minervas seem to be getting all over the place now, and wheel company's historys of bringing back styles that have become popular and sought after even after they were discontinued.. i.e. SSR with the reverse mesh, alot of stuff here at work, etc.

Big hammer fails when your car is too low. I rub quite a bit on top and on the firewall. But the firewall rubbing is due to my small amount of caster, should be changed soon. I have 235/40/17 up front and not going smaller or bigger, rubs up top but probably going to raise the car slightly.

I have the same wheels on front and had the exact same issues. I just spent an hour or two pounding the living shit of the inner fender wells. Get all the little tabs that are sticking out as well above and behind the wheels. After you're done pounding the fender well in, do it some more. After that I just lightly spray painted over all the spots that I pounded in, and checked it a week later. If the paint rubbed off, you gotta pound that spot in some more. BTW I'm running 225-45 which are kinda fat, but it will clear with proper alignment and fender banging. Try getting your caster set at 7 at a race alignment shop. |

Yeah xd-9s will be pop because you can get biggest sizes and lowest offset in 4 or 5 lug. I haven't seen any around me yet and if I only see 10 people with them online who cares? Plus if they ever start becomeing common I will switch wheels or custom powdercoat them.
What size/brand tires are you other xd-9 people running? I'm rocking 215/45/17 f and 235/40/18 r. Might move up to 235/40 in the front next time.
