How fast should a 2871R spool??

I have a few mods done to my car. I only push 10-11 psi out of a 2871r because I dont have any fuel manegment yet. I hit 10 psi at 4500 rpms. I thought it would be able to do 10 psi a little faster then that. I was hoping it would come on at around 3000 rpms at least.

.64 ar should have a much quicker spool.. mine came with a 10psi spring.. and spool was instant.. never really looked at the rpm as much but that thing practically had no lag at all.. i was running it on enthalapy ECU up to 19psi.. worked great!! never really ran it up that high.. but daily driven it on 1 bar.. and car made 305whp..

My gt28rs sees 10psi at like 3200, thats with a greddy stlye intake mani and no cams, there's no way you're gonna get 10psi on a 2871 at 3k

Well first off, the turbos efficiency doesnt kick in till your closer to 1 bar. But 3K for that set up sounds bout right to hit full boost. Stock setup fully boost at roughly 3.5K with a .64 trim, add another 500 rpm for the .86 trim.

real quick cuz youre lazy, gt28rs is good for about 320-40whp, think of it as a step up from a t28, spool comes on a few hundred rpm later, theres also a .64 and a .86(86 is the "disco potato"), id say the .64 is prolly only good for about 320, where as the .86 can make close to 350. The gt2871r in .64 is a step up from that, good for about 370whp, mayber coser to 400, the .86 is good for 400whp. All of these can do more on race gas and more boost but youre really maxing out the turbo. I've only had experience with the t25 and the gt28rs, but i've seen a few dynos on the gt2871r, so take it for whats its worth.

The gt28rs is a great turbo, spools incredibly fast (slower than a t25/t28 of course), and makes some fun power. The 2871r is also a great turbo, again its a quick spool for the power it makes, but slower than all of the previous turbos, which is expected for something that can put down 350+. I was hitting 18psi on the gt28rs at about 3400 on stock motor, its hard to unless you're in a taller gear with these size turbos. As previously stated, once the turbo gets to almost a bar its spools MUCH faster.

or you could do a divided top mount mani, divided turbine housing .63 ar turbine t3/to4e, 50 trim with BB centersection and spool up faster than a 2871r and make more max horsepower...

but thats a little mroe money...

EMS or standalones will allow you to tune properly for any turbo upgrade...

how far have you gone iwth your setup in regards to this?
