Greddy turbo kit for KA

i got a s13 with dohc ka. i am looking at this kit and know i need a fuel pump and intercooler in addition to the kit, as well as maybe a z32 maf. the thing im concerned with is the turbo. its a 20g. is that too big? i want to stay on stock internals for now (rebuilt to stock with 30k on it). i only want about 240 or so wheel. but i want spool low since why have a long spool time but not a huge kick up top. would a 16 or 18g be better? or would the 20g be ok. any help would be great. i tried searching for info about this kit and turbo and could not find anything. thanks again

The greddy turbo kit is made for the s14, but I am sure it could fit the s13 with a little work. There are better companies out there that make turbo kits for your car.
I am piecing mine together.

I'd suggest piecing a kit together.

The td06120g isn't a fast spooler. So no matter what psi you set, it's still not going to have alot of kick real low.

I say try for a t28, ebay fmic, 555 injectors, fuel management and a log manifold.

The greddy kit will work on a s13. It's their fmic that might need some hand fitting.

From what I have read about putting a turbo on a KA you definately need to get bigger fuel injectors. A lot of people go to the 370cc injectors that come off of a stock SR (correct me if I'm wrong). If all else fails there is a site www.ka-t.org that deals specifically with turboing ka's and those guys seem to know their stuff.

Best advice on thread. I would suggest a cheap tubular manifold instead though.

^ only if you add in a flex section.

seems that the gt32 is damn near the perfect turbo for a street/track ka.
one gripe i have though is that 555's are overkill for 240whp.

370 will do just fine for that.

gt32. Nice spool for a 2.4 .That's what I was going to go with. A friend of mine said I should go with a external wasgated turbo. Why is this?

IF all else fail? hell no.. go there FIRST.. there is such a great amount of knowledge on that board about ka-t. Those guys almost everything if not all coverd. A lot of helpful people there as well. And if you have a hard time looking for a ka-t kit, go there. There so much resource there.

Greddy kit is crap. Horrible turbine housing that always surges. They tune on the eManage is worthless and you'll have to blow it away anyways on the S13.

You would be better off with a KA T25 manifold, a used T25/28, SR Outlet and DP, Used 370's, z32 MAF and a AEM EMS.

Then upgrade the injectors and turbo as you get money.

Yup, td06 20g is all to well known to boost creep with the internal wastgate.

It's a high power turbo, only problem is that it isn't efficent untill 20+psi iirc.

As someone else said already, go to KA-T.org for the real knowledge.

My setup is SSA (tubular bottom-mount) manifold, SR T28, SR outlet, custom downpipe, SR sidemount and pipes (a little fitment work needed, but nothing a hacksaw and a big-rig radiator hose can't fix), SR 370cc injectors, a walbro pump, and an SAFC. We just gathered a bunch of crap from my friend's garage and mixed it with the crap in my garage, and we had almost everything we needed. Total cost was less than $500.

I threw all that in almost two years ago, retarded base timing 4 degrees, tuned to 11-11.5:1 afr with my wideband, and it has run 7 psi without so much as even a hiccup ever since. Not a single problem.

Instant boost (almost feels NA, actually) and WAY better than stock power, for a day's work and a few hundred dollars.

EVERYONE should do this, IMO. For the cost of ONE bling wheel and a day of work, you can bolt-on a reliable 75-100 whp. It makes the car feel like what it should have been stock.

As for the emanage on the S13 it has to be reflashed. I remember Kenji saying that before. If the mani was better and had a gt32 then maybe it would be a better kit. Are you also looking at it since it is a kit not pieced together as well as for the carb#...?

HI I was wondering if I could use SR20DET injectors with the greddy turbo kit instead of using the supplied greddy 370cc injectors, fuel rail, and relocate the FPR. Seems easier to just swap in SR20 injectors since it's a direct plug and play.

Doesn't the injectors come with the kit? The SR ones will fit, but taking the fuel rail off is not fun.

yeah RC 370cc injectors come with teh kit but they're topfeed so greddy supplies a new fuel rail and you have to relocate the FPR, I was thinking of just runnig the greddy kit but instead just swapping in SR20 injectors so I don't have to swap fuel rails and such. just seeing if it would be ok. seems like it would work out though.
