What am I getting into?

Okay, so here is the story. I have a buddy with a complete s13 wiring harness and computer. (DOHC M/T) I have an s14 that has been swapped from an auto to a manual. I just recently blew a motor on a $h1tty SAFC2 tune and dont want to blow this new one on a bigger turbo. AEM is expensive and so are most the 2 daughter boards that I have found for the S14 OBD2 computer. Is there anything wrong with swapping the s13 harness and ECU so I can use a cheaper daughter board and use the M/T harness to get my reverse lights back and CEL off? Is it going to mess up alot of my other equipment (like HVAC controls and PW, and all that crap? I am fairly knowledgable about cars in general (I am a seasoned technician with 10 years experience under my belt) I just want to know how much is wrapped up in the factory ECU. I know that on some OBD2 vehicles some body wiring is controlled through the ECU. I tried searching, but for some reason all I get is a blank screen... Please if anyone has done this or has more knowledge of the ECU's in these platforms, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Luke

You can swap the S13 harness in along with the O2, CTS, TPS, coil, and distributor, but you're not gaining anything by doing so. You also won't get by the reverse light wiring since the car was never wired for it, it's part of the lower harness whether it's an S13 or S14.

Could you suggest an inexpensive tuning software and hardware combo for the OBD2 computer? And I could get the lower harness and possibly the fuse box as well. I would love to maintain my harness, but have a way of chipping my ecu w/o using JWT or some other expensive route. I like the idea of daughter boards. Any suggestions?
