s14 Steering feels loose

I have 95 s14. I don't realy have any problems with my steering, but factory settings are just not making me satisfied. It's just feels to loose, if you going to compare it to cars like 350Z, Porsche or Corvet. I was wondering if there's any way to maybe adjust a steering rack or replace it with some other one. And if it's posible to replace it, than where can I get it?

It feels good on fast speed and just go around the traffic, and it's preaty responsive in tight coners. But on the lower speeds I whould wont to have it little bit more tighter and heavyer. Like on the Porsche, you realy need to put some muscle to turn it.

Yup, I ditched my power steering and that's exactly what it did... made it slightly more responsive when driving aggressively (definitely more feel, helped my n00b ass recover the back end when sliding around corners), but a bunch tougher to drive around town. Basically the car becomes a go kart. If that sounds good to you, it's an easy fix, just take off your power steering belt and try it out.

my power steering automatically drains for me because its gone to shit, i rather enjoy the stiffer feeling, but if i do get tired of it, all i have to do is fill it up and it lasts a couple of days.

An option

If you want better response and not have that little freeplay you can always replace the bushings. That should stiffen it up and give u a better feeling.

Or remove the power steering pump, it builds strong arms!

Buy SPL parts or Battleversion tension rods and add more caster.

Yeah seriously, no power steering, is SO ghetto on the s series.

If NOT having power steering helped you to recover the car, obviously you dont even know what you are doing with the wheel. Yeah, no p/s will let the car lead more, but you cannot get drastic transitions and quick snappy angles w/o power steering. Theres just no replacement for it on an s series.

To the O/P. Bushing is a start on the response. Tie rods, and ends, will do NOTHING for what you are asking (selling same parts... over and over... god rehash). If you are looking to "slow" the feed time, then you need to reduce the size of your P/S pulley.

On my red S13, i used a S13 DOHC pulley to make it larger, because i wanted faster feed. You will need to reduce the size of yours. Either by custom machine, or cross parts compatibilty, this will give you the feel you are looking for.

well, nismo does make a solid steering column idk if that will make a difference also steering rack bushings but that will probably make it more responsive instead of stiff
