What the hell is the point of this anime? He drives a "ghost Z" and they what.. see who has the highest top speed on the highway?? Lame. Who wants to watch an anime about people racing in a straight line to nowhere.

Initial D is much better and I dont even like drifting that much.

ever played Tokyo Extreme Racer or Maximum Tune, its not easy controlling a car going at 100+mph dodging traffic. and all those sweeping turns at 100+mph suddenly becomes almost like hairpin turns.

Some people dont get that its a CARTOON!!! Is there a point to why Wiley Cayote chases the Road Runner non-stop? He could just go eat porky pig, he's slow and meaty. Its entertainment, shiets not based in real actual events. Does this mean Wangan Racing isnt real? No ofcourse not, it happens just not as hyped up as some media portrays it to be.

Just cuz it shows in Initial D that you can use the gutter to ger around a corner, does that mean you should/could? Hell how many of you seen an actual gutter ditch in Japan?!?!

As far as the real method of wangan running... don't judge what you've apparently never experienced. It's not about who can get a higher top speed. A winner can be determined several ways. Like Initial D, the story doesn't revolve around the racing, but the racing is rather the background for the story. In this series, it's not about the racing, it's about the car and it's curse, as well as the group of people it has snared in it's mystery. The wangan is simply the backdrop for the story.

Whether most like it or not... I'm impatiently waiting for the next act.

Agree with Z_Spool. I remember when i had to wait for the D translations to come out. Like 2 every other month. Anyone that finds the next acts should post here. Just hope no one takes this type of stuff as driving lessons.

The story is a bit different than the comic, but its interesting. Its like another story almost, or a mixed up verison of the original. I can't wait till they introduce the other major charecters (Reina, Kitami, etc..) This is going to be a loooong series, similar to Initial D

I think the whole idea of "wangan" is pretty silly. Also I think its kinda rude to play with peoples lives like that on the highway. One mess up going 100mph and you dont only kill yourself but could easily kill alot of innocent people minding their own bussiness. I really hope this anime does not become popular for the sake of many future deaths.

well.... the main difference between wangan and other street racing is:

most of the drivers are old heads.
most of the drivers are BAAALLLLLINNNNN SOOOONNNNNNNN.

it won't be equal to drifting level in popularity. cars become slow when the money doesn't flow.

I never said I was a fan, but I can't say I've never done it...Sure it was fun but after spinning my car accross the freeway while driving home one night cause I was falling asleep, I rethought my opinion of speed. I felt as though my car was stable even in excess of 120mph, but when I spun it at 80 and relized how little control I had once it was going around on me, and I realized how deceptive speed is. I definately don't do it anywhere near as often anymore, (a rarity now) and I make sure not to do it around others cause I was barely able to keep my car on the freeway when I spun it, I could only imagine what would have happened if I was going faster and/or if there were other drivers around me.

Either way, it doesn't affect my watching this... I'll still enjoy it just as I enjoy watching streetracing videos even though I don't actually enjoy straight-line racing. It's an entertaing series with the 'car scene' as it's background... I'm hooked.

or, this is a wild shot in the dark, u could stop driving when you're sleepy and rest or not drive at all if u know u're going to be sleepy. if your car isnt stable at 80 u should look into seeing if something is wrong with it.
