The only difference is probably to... SEARCH. Lol you had it coming with a question like that. Easily covered. All you type in the search bar is SR20det.

Are you referring to the Japanese market vs Australian or European market cars?

Both, so for instance if you bought an 1999 s14 Silvia or s15 in Europe or Australia you'd get an sr20det with a bush bearing turbo. But in Japan you would have gotten a ball bearing turbo.

if you're lookin to get the s13 SR20 redtop or Blktop reguardless of color, dont have a power difference.

redtop being the early model and Blktop being late model SR20's(not including s14/s15 SR's) as stated above

IMO if were going to build an SR,Id go with an s13 redtop/blktop.

Been discussed before plenty.
In a nutshell: planning to mod? Then go for the cheaper (RP)S13 redtop/blacktop.
Thinking of staying stock? Then S14/S15 SR is the way to go.

But imo S13 SRs in S14s are lame. Stick with the SR that matches your year, everything - fmic, wiring, etc - will match better.

people are cheap and try to save where they think they can. but whatever, do what u wanna do. if you plan on upping ur cams significantly then just go s13sr route and dont deal with the vtc shit. u want a moderate street machine get s14sr. i can go on and on on the pros and cons of both motors but u have to decide what you want to achieve in the end.
