Not the same AT&T

SBC bought the original AT&T, who merged AT&T Wireless with Cingular, who was also partially owned by BellSouth back then. SBC was rebranded "The new AT&T" and when they bought BellSouth they decided to drop the Cingular name and use the name AT&T Mobility.

Confused? So am I.

QFT. I know it's confusing Steve, but Bob is right. It's a different company, same name.

Now imagine if you were me and had to explain this to 118364983569135693^123875 customers who came into your store.

If you're adamant about switching, try T-mobile. The reception isn't that great, but they are the fastest growing wireless company with the best rates. I would definitely recommend one of their new T-Mobile hotspot@home phones. Guaranteed reception wherever you have access to wi-fi.
