Well, I've found a vlsd from a japanese 96 180sx. I was just if this is okay to swap out with the open differential on my 1992 240sx SE. I'm guessing that the sr20det and the ka24de has different gear ratios. Would this have any effect when swapping out my old differential with this new one?

It should work as long as you get the output shafts from that same car. Make sure they have the same bolt pattern you have (a 3 star with 2 bolts holes on each star-point).

SR20DET 5-speed (S13 and S14), and KA (all models) have the same 4.083:1 ratio.
The diff should bolt in unless, as mbmbmb23 noted, the output shafts are different. if they are, either have your stock output shafts machined to fit, or buy new VLSD output shafts. |

what they tell me is that it does not come with the axles, but it's 6 hole flanges so it'll bolt right up to my stock axles...Is this correct?
