Ok, here's the engine and the symptoms..
A CA19DET, port/polished head, 1.2mm head gasket, Tomei 260/260 cams, stock injectors, SR turbine, SR MAF, AVCR, SAFC, HKS 3 core intercooler.. I've checked all the grommets, the settings and connections for the AVCR, SAFC are good, checked the crank angle sensor, works as it should, coil packs and injectors seem to working like they should, the MAF seems to be working like it should.. The problem I've got, it's runs 'WAY' rich, EGT registers at around 4 - 5 versus around 7 where it should when it's warmed up and running under pressure, the idle lobes really bad, anywhere from 6 - 400 with the hood closed, and from 1K - 700 with the hood open.. Does anyone have any ideas what or where the problem may exist?

Check TPS sensor. And throttle cable.
What do you mean with hood open? Does it idle higher when you open the hood?? If so that would suggest that somethings hitting the throttle cable. Jed |

sounds like a vacuum leak... that's exactly what happened to my KA24E when the AIV got stuck. I'm guessing you probably have the AIV removed and capped off, but there are plenty of other places you can lose metered air.

I am still using a KA throttle cable. I was going to try and get one for a 89 240, that is supposed to be the right length. The throttle cable for a KA in the early 90's is the same as an SR. As far as any vacuum lines, I am only using one off the throttle body. I don't have any of the vacuum canisters so there aren't any others possible places for leaks I can think of. I've got the one line running back to the fire wall and then over to the drivers side of the engine bay. As far as an AIV, I'm not sure, can you explain it in simpleton for me?
