Whining coming from block? KA24DE

Car: 1992 240sx Couple (Was a base model w/ automatic)

So I recently put a new (used) motor in my car to replace an older motor. Finally got everything put back together without much problem last night. The motor sounds pretty good other than a timing chain rattle. But, there is an odd whining coming from the motor. I listened above and below the car and the only place you really hear this whine loudly is from the exhaust topside of the engine. Even underneath the car it isn't that loud. But it doesn't sound like the head, sounds like something below it.

It almost sounds as if its supercharged or something. (if any of you guys know what those sound like. LOL).

The mods I did are:
AIV/EGR Removal
Secondary butterfly removal (left shaft in place)
5-speed swap (car runs great as far as I can tell)
Downpipe-back exhaust (freebie)

I completely drained the motor, trans, and power steering. I'm using full synthetic in everything. I was not able to check the exact levels on my transmission fluid though. I did everything in my power to get off the side "fill hole". No luck. But I did a complete drain on the transmission. So I put in 2.4qts of royal purple as FSM says. Other than that, my AC has no charge in it, but all my accessories are OFF in the car.

Any ideas what this sound could be?

you don't hear it so bad at higher rpms, but it doesn't come or go whenever you press the clutch in. And driving is the same. You hear it loudest at idle, but at some point when the idle slows down under 700 (once its warm) the noise almost goes away until the idle rises again.

check for exhaust leaks or leaks in the intake manifold?

if none of those, try the tranny and anything else drivetrain related.

I'll check for exhaust leaks. I did plug the EGR hole and AIV hole kind of cheaply, but I figured it would work pretty well. (Flat washer like disc in hole, then bolted down with the pipe bolt using some copper gasket maker on the disc and on the threading. Will double check and see if there is any leakage there.

I'll also double check my intake manifold. Just need to get come more carb cleaner. *laugh*
