Drifting
Please no one leave me any bad rep, I am just trying to gather some info, I am decently knew to the drift scene, I've only really been doing it for a year or so and I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for how I can better improve my skills legally, I am very sloppy at my point right now and what I have learned I taught my self on back roads and parking lots but I was wondering if anyone new of anything that I could do in a controlled enviroment, as far as actual drft events I dont feel that I have the skill level to perform in drift events, so any ideas?

well drift events are were u can learn the basics of drifting many people have learned things there. i myself have gained much experience from events. if u want to better urself i highly recommend going to events. because there people can view ur skills and give you pointers on what to do and what not to do. many people can give u advice there. the streets just get you into trouble and a bad driving record. but thats if you get caught. but who knows how long u can go without getting busted.

Google "drifting techniques" you will find a lot of info on the different techniques. Out here in cali I'm pretty sure there are drift clinics from time to time, but maybe not in florida. All it really takes is A LOT of practice and a basic understanding of drifting techniques. I really don't think anyone can really teach you how to drift, you have to get a feel for it yourself.

There is a practice event in orlando Jan 27, kinda far from Royal Palm. There is also an event at Moroso Motorsport Park in West Palm Feb 16. Feb 2 is an event @ Desoto Speedway in Bradenton. Just show up to any of those and you'll get to learn and probably get some pointers too.

I love it when people start their thread with "please don't neg rep me for asking this question."
To answer your question, the basics of drifitng is of course donuts and figure eights. Start off with donuts and move onto figure eights and then start drifting a actual course. Donuts and figure8's are the basic foundation of drifting. Also don't be intimadated to sign up for a drift event. It's the best place to really practice and learn. Without all the worries of getting caught by the popo. GL |

Just swap a sr20 into your car and your drifts will be 10x better.Thats what I've been told.
But seriously just goto drift events and practice there. Its not like they expect you to practice in the streets to be good enough to goto a track. Its the complete opposite ![]()

yes just like the above posts just go out to your local track meet, meet the guys and go out and practice. Dont worry about looking like a noob... we all gotta start somewhere and drifting isnt about how good you are. About 99% of the people i know do it for the love of the sport

Even if you suck, people will still be nice and will give you tips and let you ride with them if you ask them politely. All you have to remember is that nobody really cares you spin out a lot. Just go out to a legal event, have fun, practice, and meet new friends. ![]()

we acually have an event today, at 8am. but of course theres not enough notice for you. :P
just keep your drifting legal. dont worry about yoru set up. all you need is your soul and tires! after you get to know your vehicle, add coil overs... then see how it handles. after that, add little suspension goodies.. then when you get good enough drop an sr in it. but a KA is perfect for drifting. of course before you go with the SR, you need to invest in a good diff. open diff is okay if your a good driver, but its alot easier with a good 2way diff. hope i helped, and remembner.. KEEP IT LEGAL!

I learned more from 1 event than I did from months in open parking lots. Plus, most events will have instructors to help people out that are just learning. Don't be intimidated going to events, everyone had to start somewhere and unless people don't recognize that than they are jackass' for it.

if you're concerned about parking lot practice, go to youtube and search "how to drift" lol. i used to do this when i was bored at work. with any skill there is always theory and practical learning. with drifting there is no exception.

Go to practice events and just have fun !!! It's the best way to learn...
Enjoy yourself and don't stress to learn too fast. You are there to have fun after all. Like everybody said, everyone gotta start somewhere, so don't be intimidated, usually everyone is really nice at those event.

I was really suprised at how helpful everyone at the clubFR events were. It was nice to see people realizing that you are new and instead of hating they were very helpful. Get out to the track, it's the best way to learn.
