SR ARC parts ?
ARC is a little expensive but was just curious on performance on their induction box and side mount intercooler. A friend of mine want to keep his SR low profile so he's sticking with the SM but wants to upgrade to a more efficient IC. I know that a s15 IC could hold up to 15psi but what would you expect from the ARC unit over stock? Is it honestly better than a pretty good Front mount?
Also, the induction box is a pretty nice piece and have seen this on some really high performing cars but for the price is it worth it? I've recently seen this on the FS section but they've sold pretty fast. Anyone with any experience with ARC or SR ARC parts?

hmm i think you are posting in the wrong section but anyway arc uses the same core as hks...The induction box is prob one of the best intakes on the market if i had a stock style turbo setup i would deff pick one up...good luck man

i have an ARC SMIC chillin in my garage. i wanted an FMIC so i bought a Greddy, but while i was still rockin the SMIC the ARC unit seemed to hold up pretty well to the abuse. when i bought the car it came with the ARC SMIC so i dont really have any way to compare it to the stock SMIC, but i think it may be a little bigger and its constructed pretty damn well.

the arc induction box actually doesnt do shit.
save yourself 200 bucks and get an a'pexi filter. They filter the best (they did bench flow tests with most major filters, they came out on top.) and are pretty affordable.

if u want ARC parts be prepared to wait.. took my friend like 4 months for shift knob and there radiators and such take like 8, unless u find someone with them in stock.

ARC is Imported by Mackin so expect a 4-6 month wait if the parts are not stocked.
The Intercoolers and Radiators are the best of the best... if you drop the coin. The Intake Box is a nice addition if you looking to dress up the engine bay, but I have always been turned away by the open filter facing the hood... not exactly ideal getting cold air... even running duct work is odd. SMIC is the same as the HKS version and you can find both rather easy, and cheep. Not sure on gain but they are very thick!! Options on Intakes... I personally think the Blitz SUS dominates all others... why?? 200 micron filter made of stainless steel.... air is being constantly passed over the filter cooling the metal... in return its cooling the air... and it looks awsome!! .02 -Drew |

The Side mount Is thicker but its more for heat dissapation than for holding more pressure.
you can run 15 PSI on the stock side mount but you'll just heat soak the shit out of it. So if your buddies lookin it to be Low Pro, than it would be a good choice depending on his power goals

Why is that? So a bigger side mount will heat soak the same as a smaller Side mount at the same PSI level?
Whats your point the Stock S13 Side mount holds up under stock boost.

the general rule to apply here is that the larger the core the longer it will take to heat soak.
The S13 SMIC is smaller than the S15 one and the ARC is bigger than both. But the ARC ones cost way the hell too much, so I bought a S15 one which should be good for 12psi on a T25 with supporting mods |

Yeah I think I bought it from you haha. FYI, it's handling 10psi pretty good. Because of its position, you'd need to make some ducting to get good airflow to it.

Yes you can.
I placed one on a silvia front with oem piping and it fit perfectly. Chuuki takes a bit of finessing to fit. Haven't put it on yet. Just tried.

The ARC side mount is around 100mm thick compared to 80mm for the standard s15 cooler.
Either way the moral of this story should be that no matter which SMIC you go with it still sucks because FMIC is much better. Personally i'm sticking to the SMIC for 2 reasons. 1 to not block my radiator, and 2 to not show a FMIC to the entire world (car jackers and cops) |

i love my ARC FMIC, have never dealt with their SMIC though, and I dont fall for induction kits, nothing beats a short large homemade pipe with a 12 dollar filter on the end of it.

thats because the S2000 OEM intake box out performs all aftermarket intakes for the S2000.
I've had an ARC SMIC before. Its def an upgrade from the stock SMIC. I would recommend it if your looking to stay sleeperish.
