Tempted to take on RB26 swap into a s14

well after reading up im getting more and more tempted to take on a RB26 swap into a s14. right now i have a built bottom end z. dont get me wrong i love my z but power to weight wise an rb in a 240 wins. does anyone have any experience with doing rb26 swaps into a 240? in your opinions is it worth it?

I have experience with a rb25 in a s13 and IMO its not worth the time/Money/ and aggervation of never being able to find parts. Your Best Swap would be a LS1 in your s14. You can find Ls1 parts Everywere and you can make ALOT more power on a Ls1 with a nice turbo setup. Bang for the Buck =Ls1

im leaning more towards a turbo setup. if i do the 240 though it would be more or less a pure track car. im more prone to choose the rb for this reason because of its high redline and it can make a good amount of power. id probably go with small twin turbos to cut down on spool up time.

The Rb's redline at 7,000RPM, The Ls1 redlines at 6200RPM, So your only loosing 800RPM, Stock. Now you can build a Stronger drivetrain in a LS1 for half the price your going to on a RB. Also the RB doesn't put down near the torque a Ls1 does, esp for getting out of the hole.

now with the Rb's your not going to want a Small turbo on it unless your not planning on making over 300HP, B/c they won't make anymore on a small turbo. They have launch controls out there to spool up a big turbo so it doesn't lag. I personally use a Gizzmo launch control. Seems to work ok.

But you will spend less in the end on a Ls1 with twin Turbo's and make over 500WHP than you will on a RB and buy the supporting mods to make the same Hp.

To make 500+Hp on a RB you need a Power FC or some type of Engine managment, injectors, Throttle bodies, MAFS, Bigger Turbo's ETC. Whcih will cost you over 5000$ just for the mods, not counting the motor being installed. So you looking at 10k + on a 500HP RB.

Ls1, you can buy the engine and install it for around 5k, You can buy a nice turbo or pro charger kit for around 3500-4k and that will put you well over 500HP. Plus the Ls1 will be more reliable and streetable. But this is just my experience.

Ls1 is easy tuned with a Diablo program. Alot easier than the Rb's.

Exactly LSx's aren't hard to tune, they're probably a lot easier than any newer nissan.

Wow, thats alot of BS in that post. Do your research on the RB26DETTs before you try to slam it. 7000 redline? Try 8000 and not that hard to make it rev to 9000 with a bit of head work. You do know the stock twins and stock everything engine wise, can flow enough to push 450whp out of the stock setup right? Nothing that a rom tune and a boost controller cant make...and those numbers are still on actual GTRs with AWD. Slap the same setup on a S-chassis while going RWD will give you more whp since theres less drivetrain loss...

I like the LSX swap too, I got 3 buddies who has done this swap. Using the Hinson kit will push you close to $8k for everything. Engine, tranny, swap kit, custom driveshaft, exhaust, etc etc. One of them saved a bit by not using the Hinson kit, but he still spent atleast $6k for the swap. Car put down 310 whp and 350 ft lbs of torque with nothing more than an exhaust and intake. The beauty of the LSX swap is that yes, its reliable, leave it NA. Not a whole lot of room inside an S-chassis engine engine bay for anything else (turbo or SC).

And if you do the full LS1 swap, go all the way and make it legal :P

Can't do that with an RB
