Smile hks ssqv not blowing off?

So I recently sold my blitz dd bov in order to get a hks ssqv the new one. I installed the hks in about 30 mins double checking all my hose's. I went to start up my car and when i rev it up, theres NOTHING. I put my hand up to the bov and feel a little puff of air and thats about it. I already tried pushing it and oiling it and no luck. Any ideas?

i have no clue why the hell i put a smiley face.. it was supposed to be sad.

Check you intercooler piping too to make sure there's no leaks. I run the BLITZ and it's adjustable. I'm not sure if that HKS one is, though. Give them a call (310) 491-3300...

Get a boost gauge. Borrow one temporarily if you have to, but every turbo car should have one.

Either you have no vacuum line hooked up to the BOV, the spring is too stiff, or the turbo isn't boosting.

yeah, and since the ssqv isnt adjustable you probably have a leak, not boosting very much, which iirc the ssqv needs 5lbs to open fully, or your vacuum line isnt hooked up or in the wrong place...

I can't verify this, but here it is.

Quote:
A leak in a SSQV or an I/C pipe will limit the amount of boost pressure
and should have nothing to do with the engine RPM level. If the valve
is
leaking, adjust the bolt on the back of the valve (1/8 of a turn at a
time) clockwise and check that the o-ring is seated properly and c-clip
is
has the flat side facing down. Do not take the SSQV apart; it will void
any type of warranty. If there is problem, send it in through the
dealer
it was purchased from.

Sincerely,
HKS USA Technical Support

Well I can verify that the HKS SSQV needs 5lbs to open fully, since 1) I have one and 2) mine will not fully open up under 5lbs.

have you tried actually driving it under boost conditions and then see if it blows off? the SSQV barely does anything when you are just revving at idle

did you buy it used or new?
i bought mine used and it had that problem. so i pulled it apart and it was full of rust from moisture getting in there.

cleaned it out and it started working again.

i did buy it used, but the guy said there was like 1000 miles on it.. anyways, i do have a boost gauge and im pretty sure theres a leak, but i cant imagine where. im gonna just reinstall everything and double check everything. its wierd though. after i drive the car, the boost gauge still shows the system is holding pressure? im not sure if thats a bov issue. This might have to do with my valve cover which i just got pc'd. the powerder coater guy left the rubber piece that adapts the vacuum hose. when i got it back, it was all hard, but still worked. did that have anything to do with it? sorry about the long story

i would sugest you pull it apart and check to see if it has rust in it.

HKS sells fliters to take the moisture out of the air oming fro mthe intake manifold. so they must know it isa problem.
