1993 Exhaust differences?

I just bought a 1993 240sx, and the converter smells really bad. I eventually am going to get a Hotshot Header, Hi-Flo converter and a HKS Sport Cat Back. So, I was going to get a cheap converter or straight pipe right now to get rid of the smell.

From looking at different places, the Catco converter is a different size for the 93-94 models compared to the 89-92 models. The 93-94 converter only has a 2 ¼” diameter compared to the 2 ½” diameter of the 89-92 models, and the converter section is longer. Here is a link. http://www.all-catalytic-converters....converter.html

I contacted Summit Racing and they gave me the same information. However, all of the test pipes I see for the 240sx say they are for years 89-95.

Does anybody have a 1993 240sx that has changed the exhaust on it that can help me out? I tried looking under my car last night, but couldn’t see much because of all of the heat shields.

Thanks.

I think its the same convertor size as far as length and bolt pattern, but perhaps for stricter 93 standards they went with a smaller cat.
