I'd guess the bare chassis is about 800-1000lbs as well, maybe as low at 650lbs. Modern cars just don't get very light because of crash testing.

I think I have a friend with a totally bare chassis. I'll talk to him and see what I can do about borrowing some scales too.

No ideas on the specifics, but I think I remember someone posting that their E36 M3 chassis was about 580 lbs before acid dipping it. You can get an S13 lighter than those, and they aren't as stiff, so I'd imagine it's less than that.

I have no idea if I'm remembering that number correctly, but it jumps out in my mind.

That would be fun to know, a complete stock 240sx hatch is 2685 lbs, funny, thats the very same as my full race tube chassie Chevy GT-1.

That would be amazing. Please let me know if you can.

The main reason this has sparked my interest is because I junked an Mk3 supra the other day. It had a little rust and I didn't want to fix it and the owner of E-town gave me another one anyway. So I totally stripped it for spare parts and selling the crap and took it to scrap. It only weighed 550lbs. And being 3500lbs stock, that really surprised me. So that's why I was really curious as to what an S13 would weigh.

Def, if that number for the E36 is right and then comparing it with the Supra number, I could see the 240 bare chassis being definitely sub-500, maybe low to mid 400.
