well i don't have an sr but heres my input.

i have a ka24det.

the turbo were blown so i converted back to N/A

First i started the car with the AFC neo on. with all corrections off.
It would not start, it would crank but not start.

i disconnected my AFC Neo, power / ground and it started right up.

then i pulled the 370cc injecotrs out and put the stocks back on. tried starting it but it would not start ? confused at this point.

messed with timing, messed with tps.

and nothing worked, was about to give up, then i just decideded to plug the AFC Neo back in, just to see, and guess what. it started right up, but idle was stupid, so we messed with the tps and now it's running good unless someone steps on my AFC neo wires.

check timing and tps.

try pulling plugs off injectors.

check starter.

battery.

also check for big vac leaks. that could be a big issue.

I put a timing light on it, but it flashes very slowly. Too slow to get a reading. My next guess would be to re-torque the cam cap bolts. Maybe they are too tight after the rocker arm stopper install. any other suggestions?

when it does flash, you should be able to see the timining mark near the needle. If not, then your timing is off.

The timing seemed pretty close, but it was hard to tell with it going so slow. Now we can't get the timing light to pick up a signal (it's not flashing at all). Not really sure why. We marked the cas position then tried adjusting it slieghtly while cranking and it made no change. I also loosened and re-torqued the cam caps in sequence to 8 ft-lbs. Still no change.

Out of curiosity, did you wire the start signal to the ecu that comes from the ign key? Without the start signal, the ecu wont send the right amount of fuel for a cold start and typically will require lots of excessive cranking to get it to start, if it at all.

Otherwise I would say timing is messed up or you have no compression.

we do not have an ignition key. This is a track only car with just an engine harness. we are running a push button start and have tried connecting the start signal wire and not connecting it. Does not seem to make a difference. I have talked to other people running a similar wiring setup who have not connected the start signal wire and have little to no problems. We recently got the car to backfire again but still no start. I am definately getting frustrated. I expected problems because of all the changes but not this much. Thank you to everyone who has shared their advice everything is helpful even if it just eliminates a possible problem.

You might want to check your fuel pressure reg, pull the plugs and check to see if they are getting flooded. You can check the fpr with a vacuum pump and see if it holds. If not then I would have to agree with everyone and say its the timing.

Just installed another stock redtop ecu and stock sr maf. Swapped in a different walbro 255 inline pump that we know works to be certain we are getting enough fuel pressure. Fuel pump sounds different like maybe more fuel flow but car still won't start. We are getting code 34, knock. Will the car still start with code 34? Is it possible to actually have knock when the car is only turning over not starting? Is it more likely the sensor is bad? If I am actually getting knock would it damage the engine at idle? Motor is freshly rebuilt and I obviously want to avoid damage. Thanks,
JKP
