body filler questions
have a couple of questions on body filler.. first off... my quarter panels are riddled with tiny quarter sized dings that id really like to remove and was wondering if body filler was the best way to do it. if not, what do you recommend? if so, which brand is the best?
if anyone has used this kind of stuff on dents could get pics and could you tell me whether or not its held up or if you can tell its been filled? on another note.. ive got some hail damage(a buncha tiny little dings) on my roof and was wondering if they could be pushed out from the inside (s13 hatch) thanks

best way to repair this (at home in your garage or whatever)
get a hammer and something flat and metal put the flat metal thing on the backside of the panel on the center of the dent now TAP around the edges of the dent on the outside of the panel with the hammer next proceed to grind the area (remove paint all around and in dent) if its a large area just skim coat the whole quarter with filler and block sand progressively step up paper grit from 80 to 120 then youll want an orbital sander or (DA Dual Action) sander, DA with 120 or 180 now youll want to prime it, block with like 320 or 400 and paint BTW...i LOVE evercoat rage. sands great and very minimal shrinkage as far as the hail damage just repeat the steps above or call a dent doctor for paintless dent repair (pricey)

how would i get inside the 1/4 panel with that other metal panel in the way? and how would i get to a dent right here (not my car just circled the area where the dent is) this one is one of the creased dents

rage is all i use. right now im trying this new stuff. Not so good on the sanding like rage. As for the dents do as what kouki monster said for the dents. Depending on the location and how big the dents are. You might need a pick/spoon, or just a small comma dolly. You can oftern push them out with light taps from the inside. The metal will want to come out by iself but at the same tight taping ur hammer lightly around the dent. Working your way in.
i belive if u remove ur panels inside ur hatch and rear seats. You should be able to acess it. If not then u might need a stud welder/ or a mini suction cup. If u decide to go with the stud welder than be carefull not to burn any wires inside. |

then you have a few options
1, you need a welder and a drill drill holes stick something in and pull dent out weld hole or wipe hole with filler and watch it come back through in a month 2, fill it with filler. all the way with filler. just keep wiping and sanding wiping and sanding (lots of filler will crack and fall off eventually) 3, this would be the proper way(imo) rent/buy/borrow a stud welder weld stud on, pull out with slidehammer while tapping edges of dent done

the filler will still fall and crack off if the dents are just small, quarter sized dings that arent very big at all?

nah not hail dents or dings
it will be a pain tho because as you sand your filler off, the high ring around the outside of the dent, where the metal is stretched, will always sand through first and will feel and look like ass that is without, like i said, lots of wiping and sanding into a much larger area than you initially wanted to repair. basically you will be chasing the dents around

well.. i plan on pushing the roof dents out.. but the dents on the 1/4panel are all small round shallow dents(all from the previous owner.. idk wtf they were doing)
the only problem is the creased dent near the wheel well.. i was thinking of over fenders but idk how much work is required with those

depends how you want to mount them
rivets, molded,bonded either way, they dont fit *great* out of the box and will more than likely have shipping damage and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you have wheels and spacing worthy of overfenders. thats the hardest part with most people

oh yea.. definately.. i was going to get a flush wheel setup then space it by however wide the overfenders are.. if anything id like them riveted on but will it rust underneath the over fender? and im not sure how i feel about cutting up my wheel wells..

depending on your wheel size and suspension setup you will more than likely need to hack the quarters for good fitment
tape the over on, stick head inside wheel opening, draw line to cut, remover over, cut line weld seam that you just cut apart spray with some sort of etching primer pop your over on wala
