Thats actually the second version of it. They actually made two different prototypes.
Oh and ya Honda basically ripped the whole design to Make the NSX. Though thats nothing new either. Japanese car companies have been ripping each others designs for years.

The Original Prototype that led to the Fairlady 240Z was conceived by Nissan and Yamaha they had a falling out. Nissan shelved it for a few years and Yamaha took it to Toyota and the Toyota produced the 2000GT of course it was only in limited numbers and cost Toyota to much to produce in the 1960's. Nissan took design back off the Shelves MR K came in and cleaned it up and boom Fairlady Z.

Oh and there are design cues from the Mid 4 in the 180sx not just the Z32.
