My friend kind of never heard of " checking oil with dipstick" LOL he just thought he had oil, but his front main seal was leaking, so after we were screwing with it reving it to 9K maybe little over cuz the tach actually only went up to 8 so I don't really know exactly were 9 is. After that the next day he notice the puddle at his driveway, checked oil and was 2 quarts low. I said WTF we were racing with this and your 2 quarts below. |

honestly... The stock wheels and tires are usually a lot lighter then aftermarket ones. My e36's stock 15'' BBS's weigh in at a scant 12 lbs. My M3 rims weigh in at an impressive 24.
Add tires, blah blah blah, and with my stock wheels, I save about 40 lbs all and all. But damn, the m3 wheels look sweet.

You can get like 15" x 10" that weigh around like 10lbs, I forgot where I saw it
that's about half the weight of the steels. Also lightweight lug nuts, chromoly hubs and studs. I forgot if the sway bars are hallow, but there are hallow aftermarket sway bars. Nitrogen in tires. paint and primer removal, and finish bare metal with a thin clear coat, it's used in bicycle racing I been there you save about 8oz on a bike. |

An SR is way lighter than a KA. A little over 40 lbs from what I hear, and it feels like it lifting both up with a cherry picker. Not to mention the weight is further back.

Ways to reduce weight on a 240sx by Kalashnikov:
1. Cut off all the Muffler bearings, You don't need them. 2. Empty the catalytic converter fluids 3. Drill holes in the floor pan 4. Fill A/C with Helium 5. Remove padding from stock seats 6. Take a dump and shave entire body before driving 7. Clip your nails 8. Dip feet in liquid latex and that will be your driving shoes 9. Clean out your nose and ears 10. Remove bumper support and impart foam 11. Cut steering wheel in half. so you have a semi circle steering wheel. 12. No shift knob. 13. Put Nitrogen/Helium mix gas in tires 14. Wash car |

maybe build from scratch, chassis out of carbon fiber tubing, then just put a S14 fiberglass shell over, that should be 1000lbs lighter then stock S14 I guess?

What are you reducing weight for exactly? Before you start, you might consider getting your cage in first, then get the seam welding done after removing the sound deadening.
The spindles are a good start, but again... what is your track application? The S14 has gobs of weight reduction and aero potential. I suggest getting yourself some Enkei RPF1's for starters. And start working on the front of the car to reduce weight first. Then the roof (70lb's) and then work towards the rear. |

there's a big ass wiki article on this somewhere. complete with how much everything weighs. anyhow, i saved a bunch when i swapped the stock seat out for a fiberglass one. saved another 20 lbs or so by swapping to a light weight race battery. 34 ish pounds were saved when I removed my AC.
