Haha... I admit that I shouldn't have admitted there was something wrong with my ride. But like I've said before, my honesty was based off of my bad judgement. I thought he was cool, he turned out to be a dick... Didn't see that coming.
It's a $10 ticket. I have to go to the CHP station to get that signed off.

No front plate is some what debatable. My GF got a fix it for it because it wasn't on the front bumper, but it was clearly displayed in the front window, and DMV states that it must be displayed any where in the front of the vehicle, which it was. I even debated this topic with a cop and his answer was, " well they mean the front bumper" but it never says that. Plus my on the exhaust issue is that it's B.S. If it's ridiculously loud and pollutes then yeah I under stand a law for it. So IMO don't give me shit for it unless u have a decibel meter.

Just run your front plate

Simple as that

I dunno why people take off their front plate

If your car looks THAT much worse with the front plate on then I hate to say it but your car isn't nice enough

A dope car will look dope with a tiny little box of white in front of it, trust me

And all years of 240sx had front plate mounts so no using the Corvette "I don't have a front plate mount" excuse

If you're going to drive your modified car on the street you gotta accept the consequences

But if you're going to drive it on the street then I'd at LEAST try to do the minimum to avoid getting pulled over, such as:

1. Run front license plate
2. Have a quiet exhaust (flange on a stock muffler for street if you want to retain your full catback)
3. Don't run stupid color or excessively bright HID's
4. Don't speed, don't rev, don't weave lanes, don't drive dumb
5. Paint your front mount black if its excessively obvious (it's not gonna change your temps that much don't worry beef curry)
6. Don't run a LOT of stickers to make your car noticible

I could go on, but if you don't take precautions then its your responsibility to accept the consequences

They call them THE LAW cause they are THE LAW

If they want to Training Day your ass then that's up to them and you can't do anything...its not their fault they're profiling you into the group of rotten apples who do deserve to get popped

^ the truth has been spoken...BUT there are some fucking dickheads. my s13 with sr20 was COMPLETELY legal here in hawaii but i got tons of shit for it. the 2 that get me the most was a ticket for having a motor swap. the lay in hawaii states that you can do a swap as long as it has the same amount of cylinders. the other was when i got pulled over for flicking the cigarette butt out the window. the catch is, I DON'T SMOKE. cop was pissed when he tried to give me a ticket for my car then realized it was legal...fucking bitches

Yeah man, recon in Hawaii is BAD

So wack, cannot slam your car or even put exhaust without having to do that recon stuff

soooo.... my ticket should've been $900 instead of $422?

and btw for you guys complaining about getting tickets for your turbos and bov's or whatever... cops can give you tickets for pretty much anything in your engine bay that doesn't have a CARB #. I got pulled over in my 06 accord w/ an AEM V2 CAI but the V2 didn't have a CARB # because it was an earlier version. I told the cop that it was 50 state CARB legal but he said that I need to have the sticker on the intake or documentation proving that it's legal. the cop wrote me a fix-it ticket AND a visit to the smog ref for JUST a CAI that was CARB legal. I called up AEM and they sent me a CARB sticker but I still had to go to the smog ref. (I ended up testing wayyy lower in emissions than normal stock V6 accords. -_-)

whats the lesson here? avoid cops at all cost.

i've had enough no fault of my own pull overs to realise that they go for easy targets.

my only "crime" is driving a modified vehicle.

thats like saying all (insert minority group here) people are bad.

they profile us and i'm fuckin sick of it. so what do i do when i see a cop?
i cut out with the quickness. i keep a watchful eye when im driving and i always drive safely. i dont speed or drive wreckless or anything. but if i see a cop car up ahead or behind or at a light, you're damn sure that i go which ever way he's not going. i'm payed enough of the "modified vehicle tax" as i like to call it to realise that im better off makin a break for it.

the day i get pulled over for an actual moving violation (and since i always drive safe this wont happen) is the day i dont bitch about getting a ticket.

I never once thought about it as a tax, but what a great name for it.

I've had probably 50+ warnings and 15+ tickets for stupid things. Therefore, I too know this tax fondly.

You were just offended and tried to make a nice "comeback". It is typical of those that aren't quite up to the mental par of a reasonable person.

That's fine. I just assume you are 13 or so.

the way i see it is.

i drive my sr'd 240 MAYBE 100 miles a month, if that. it sits more than it drives. its not my daily driver. i have a work truck, for work. and than i have a minivan that i dd around town. dont really need to start up the 240 warm it up blah blah just to go to the store or soemthing you know?

i realise that engine swap laws are for enviromental reasons, but i just find the fact that some guy can drive a prius "eco-friendly car" everyday maybe 40+ mile commute and thats okay, but god forbid i take my 240 out on the weekends. hell that prius driver prolly speeds and gets way more tickets than i do.

point is. his car is hurting the enviroment more than mine.

maybe instead of smog laws we should have mileage laws. most of this eco-friendly shit is just a marketing scam anyway so i dont give a fuck.

you're right tho i am breaking the law by choice and i know the consequences. and i man up and pay my fine and move on. i wouldnt bitch if i got pulled over for what i consider a legit crime. maybe if i was zooming around playing "boy racer" like a jackass i would totally deserve getting reffed. but if im not and im just driving like you're suposed to i see no reason to get pulled over and automactially have the guy pop my hood. i've got insurance, tags, plates front and back, no tint at all, working tail lights headlights side markers, no tinted lights or any of that shit. hell even my intercoolers painted black so you can even see it anyway, and my BOV is recirced so its pretty damn quiet, and i've got the oem looking circuit sprot exhaust..so i consider my car pretty low key. bah im done ranting about this im pissing myself off, hahahha. im over it! fuck it. my car hasnt been on the streets since september anyway so i could care less.

I think we all know that we aren't always treated "fair"... in a certain way.
While we may drive cars with illegal modifications, we are still breaking the law.
Somebody might have a 72 datsun pouring oil and gas out the exhaust, but if it is legal, it is legal. Maybe your SR is spotless and runs like a brand new baby. Still illegal.

It sucks, but that is just the way it is (for now?)

All I was saying is that if you want to drive around with illegal parts, you better be prepared for the consequences, because there will be consequences. These are usually monetary.

i try to drive carefully at the end of the year. cops always seem to have to fill year end quotas or something. i hadn't been pulled over for 6 months till november, when i got pulled over three times (in my frontier) for stupid-ass reasons like, "your navi looked like a radar detector", and my windows (which came tinted from the dealership) "looked dark", and for doing a "burnout" into my driveway because i have to go into it at a weird angle and one tire lifts off the ground and spins since it has an open diff. i didn't get a ticket for any of them, but that shit's just ridiculous.

you got pulled over going in your driveway? dang that must suck, you must have some strict cops down there...? or maybe not enough real crime so the cops are bored

Last month I sat at a red light between two police cars, with no license plate lights, HID's and just bulbs for turn signals, front bumper halfway off dragging on the ground, revving an open header.
The lady officer to my left smiled at me.
