speedo trippen... HELP

Ok ima try to keep it as simple as possible...

My car: S13 coupe w/ Redtop swap stock

Ok i did a search on this and found a few threads on similar problems that im having. My speedometer is not reading. Now recently I had a short and the 2 cables from the clutch pedal switch grounded out and fried those puppies. So I took all the tape of the hardness that comes from the driverside wheel well to the inside behind the pedal and replaced with some new wire. Some how those 2 wires would get on the way when i would start the car and got caught in between the pedal and the floor so that how i got the short. Anyway when that happen my licenses plate lights burnt, pop ups wouldnt come up when i would turn the lights on an soon after that i noticed my speedo not reading anymore. So i did the search and found that there is a fuseable link in the engine bay that goes out i believe its a 25A a brown one . So i pulled it out and noticed it was blowend so i replaced it. After replacing the link including the bulbs for the lic plate the pop ups worked and obviously the lights aswell but speedo still didnt read. I've checked the fuses inside car nothing burn..... The weird thing is that sometimes when i punch it the speedo seems like it wants to work it'll float up and down like if it wants to work. Or sometimes when im driving slow it'll want to read. Everything in the cluster works fine just the speedo. I really dont know what else to check it was working just fine. Any input would help guys.

the pinion on your speed sensor, this same thing happen to me when mine was all grinded and stripped. the red gear in this picture might be worn out soo you need a new one.
