headunit question

i have a 91 s13 se model and im trying to install a alpine headunit...but the radio harness doesnt seem to have power...i already checked the audio fuse on the driver side kick pannel and i replaced it because it was blown...but still no power....has anybody had this problem?

Aftermarket head units use two power sources, constant +12v and Ignition-switched +12v... have you tested for either with a multimeter to see which is missing? Also, it could be that you've got power and just don't have a ground - make sure that the 'black' wire coming off your conversion harness is grounded, if it has one with a ring terminal/etc on it.

i checked the harness with a test light and i dont get no power

Stupid question. Did you connect the ground wire of the test light to chassis ground?

If you're so smart then why don't you open a FSM and start tracing out the schematics? Start at the battery and check all wires and fuses for continuity?
