Unhappy Key/Ignition Issues

Today I picked up my car from the mechanic and when i got home the key would not come off of the ignition. I removed all of the plastic and tried pressing a little button that it has in the middle of the ignition cylinder but the problem is that they key does not reach the off position so it will not release any tips? Plus my car does not have the snazzy push here to release the key button on the column.

Is it the original ignition, or has it been replaced?

Damn......... I was gonna suggest checking the shift lock out which is used for automatics, but still comes on the ignitions for manuals to.
I know it sometimes can get moved into "lock" position on accident.
But your saying yours is the stock one, so it wouldnt have this switch.

Id still suggest replacing the ignition.
Its really easy to do.

For now, try lightly tapping the key inward.

wd40 leaves a sticky residue that attracts dust. light machine oil is one thing they suggest.
