Good News 4 Me!!!!!!

I was woke up early this morning by a phone call that made me jump out of bed. I just got orders to move to Yokota AFB Japan!!!!!
I can't wait!! Even though I'm not shipping out till next year, I'M GOING!!!! Just wanted to share the news with you guys, I had to tell everyone I know. Any other military guys out in that area that'll be there next year?? Only bad part is that I've decided to quit modding my car so I can pay all my bills off before I go so I can spend crazy money while I'm there. Anybody got an idea for a car to bring back, I'll only be using it for track use. I'm thinking silvia, r32, or a chaser. What do you think?? I'm psyched right now. Laterz ya'll. I'm off to go study how to speak Japanese.

(of joy)

Whatever car you choose to bring back just make sure it's something unique and worth it. The process to register a vehicle from out of country can be expensive and thats not even covering freight shipping.

One thing to consider is as much as we like to have nice foreign cars, there is a niche in japan for american vehicles. You should find out what your command/branch's policy is on taking a pov to another country (as well as the local laws of japan). I believe that cars designated classic (25years and older) as well as current year models can be imported by service members. Some branches will even pay the shipping of a POV to your duty station depending on paygrade. I know from working on my car at the hobby shop that an E-6 brought a 68 camaro with a 305 in it to japan and spent a few months detailing it out and getting odds and ends for it. He invested around $4500 for the car and all the spare parts, he sold it out in town for almost $15,000. This was all legal and above the table (he paid some tax etc) but that is a nice turn around if you ask me. I believe a stipulation is that you cannot sell your pov for at least 12months but honestly this is all second hand information and it would BEHOOVE you to check into it now.

The other way people make money is by bringing over a specific model of harley that is not available in Japan, I want to say a fatboy but I dont know sh1t about harley's. I do know that harley's are next to impossible to get from dealers here and there are long waiting list's.

If you want some more info PM me, congrats on yer orders.
