Wheels a rubbin

I have 17x10.5's up front.. I'm having bad issues with wheels rubbing the fender tubs. Anyone have a good method of detecting the problem spots fast? I plan on finding (if i can) some chalk spray paint and spraying the whole fender well on driver and passenger side. Then taking the car out for a spin to find out exactly where the wheels are rubbing... Then of course bang the unchalked areas out like hell with a hammer.

Any other methods recommended besides trying to be Kewl and build fender tubs?

I take it you mean the tires are rubbing?
Pics or your lieing.
And a good fix is tubbing the wheel wells.

he isnt hitting the fenders themselves but the wheel wells, i'd chalk it, then when you find it, go to town with a hammer, that's what i did on my s13 worked like a charm, or you can tub it which you said you don't want to

ok nobody is reading at all, he isnt hitting fenders, and its in the front wheel well, even if he ran over fenders up front it doesn't negate the fact that he's hitting the well.

oh then nevermind about the overfender option. do s14s have that lip on the chassis that the harness runs along with like the s13s? if so, that seems to always be the culprit. BFH could easily take care of that if you don't care about overall cleanliness.

any more positive camber and i'm hitting the fenders... I have 235-40r17s on the front... you really think i should go smaller? Like 225's?

I considered widebody fenders but I don't want to get a kit, was not sure how the zenkei looked with widebody and no kit. Also, I was a tad worried the 17's would look way too small for the widebody fenders.

I don't like the camber setting I'm at right now, its too radical. I want to *try* pulling the fronts then the rear more to get the camber closer to 0deg.. Any advice for pulling the fronts i have access to an eastwood fender roller/puller

take front wheels off... clean the shit out of your fender tubs.. put wheels back on.. do some spirited driving. check to see where it rubs.. take a big fucking hammer and pound the shit out of the spots.

as for the fronts, pulling them would be a bitch because they are too thin for that amount of stress to be put on them.. im sure its been done. but it still would be a PITA.. HEAT GUN AND A SHIT LOAD OF PATIENCE.

you never mention offset.

hammer away and get a pic of your tub. and see where it at? i just use spray paint and see where the tire eats it at.

I might spot it with some white spray paint, then paint it black when done...

WE UNDERSTAND, but look at those wheels, he's hitting b/c the offset is ridiculous. I'm sure if he had the wheels closer to 0, then he wouldn't be having this issue; hence larger fenders...

You guys think I should attempt pulling stock fenders? Will they get wavy like the rears? I really do want to keep stock body, and I dislike flares. It'd be nice to see some pulled stock s14 fenders (fronts) if anyone has any pics.

You can pull them nicely, it just takes patience. Do it.

Oh, and you don't want 0* camber. Bad for handling. About 2-3* is actually ideal.

Rolled fenders, 18x10+18 with 275/40:

yea -2 or -3 is good for front camber, what about your caster? tire size is good for the wheel, you wont find a 225/40 only /45 so your 235 is better. consider raising it up a bit? (i know, curse the words! but seriously) are you drifting or just grip/daily? reason i ask is because i'm wondering if you'll ever need to go full lock? if so your probably going to have some serious problems. check your caster and report in

Yeah, negative camber.

You just have to use a fender roller, heat the fender up good, and slowly adjust the roller out. Luckily S14 fenders are a lot better than S13 for pulling.

That's gsracers front. He's got some experience in pulling fenders.

We are solving the problem, thats why.
He could tub the car and it would still not be flush and look like a shitty mexi flush.

20mm over fenders
10mm spacers
Adjust camber so your car dont look like a ronald mcdonald mobile.

BTW, those rims just dont work on such a plain car.
looks bad imo.
The car is stockish and mellow, then there are these giant dished chrome rims!
going non crome would help, or a agressice style body kit.
It reminds me of stock honda's with a big wing.
you can't put just one extreme piece together.
If your going stock, then go stockish.
not demon camber drift rims on a daily stock bubble coupe.

But I do LOVE the rims!

People are reading, he just has a stupidly retarded amount of camber and it looks whack as fuck. With some overfenders it would look much better. BTW LOL @ the "engineer" liscence plate on a car that obviously has no actual engineering behind it, at least on the suspension.

As for the OP's question, you SHOULD be able to see where the tires are rubbing without any chalk paint. If you can't see it then just chalk it up like you said.

He must make money to have some good rims like thems,

Well the car is a little bit engineered now that it has rb in it with some homemade "quality" mods haha. I am an engineer, I got the plate before i finished up school... The plate gets a lot of double looks from people thinking it says something else... I'm gonna get rid of it when I renew my registration...

Thanks for all the help, i'll post what i do to the car, pics and all. You guys should help me with my Rb25 problems (look for rb25 woes thread on tech talk) thanks!
