Need help identifying output flange.

Just found out my fucked up output shaft isn't quite a S14 one like I thought.

This isn't my output shafts, but this is for reference.

One is ofcourse the S14 shaft, and the other is a NA Z32 shaft.

The one's I have are a mix of those. They look exactly like the Z32 shaft, with that gear looking thing at the base of it, however it has the 6 bolt, 3x2 bolt pattern of a S14.

I tried searching and haven't come up with anything. The Z32 TT flange uses the 6x1, and as far as I can find, the J30 either uses a 5x1 or 6x1 pattern.

I was told I might have S14 ABS shafts, but I wasn't aware of their being a difference between those and non-ABS shafts.

BTW the whole diff unit is from another car, hence why I'm trying to figure out where it came from.

Thanks.

I haven't tried looking up R32's yet, but it would make sense perhaps. The one I'm looking for has the ABS ring on the output flange and is slightly thicker than the S14's.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about.

It has that "gear ring" at the base of the shaft like a Z32, but has the 6 bolt pattern of a S14. Anybody? Any ideas?

So it's a 6bolt axle with a 4channel ABS system? Shit, you got me. The S14 and J30 are both 3channel, and I've never seen a Skyline diff that was 6bolt.

What does the diff look like, an S14/J30 with the large front holes with bushings? 2bolt rear cover? Could maybe be a Q45 of some year, they're all 4channel ABS systems but I don't recall the axle/output shaft type.

Yea it looks like a S14 diff, came from another S14, but I'm not 100% sure it came from that original car. It does have the 2 bigger bolts with bushings up front behind the input shaft/driveshaft.

I was also told that its a aftermarket shaft? I think its b/s though, I've never heard of anything like that for our cars.

Is this seriously a mystery to everyone? Someone somewhere has had to have seen these before.

well they do make aftermarket shafts but i not like that i don't think. is the abs functional? i also don't think that it's a skyline one since they don't use 4-channel abs.

For my car, not at the moment its not. My VLSD i took off had a connecter on it for the ABS wire in the back to hook up to, this new diff doesn't, so I have no ABS at the moment.

Ok so finally, here are some decent pics:

In this one, I circled in red the ABS rings, the 4 channel ABS system I was referring to that Z32's have.

A few things to note here. On the right, there's the ABS plug that my old VLSD used to hook up to, but this diff doesn't have the male plug for it. Also to the left, there's a mismatched bolt hole. So I'm thinking this isn't a S14 diff, but has a S14 diff cover.

And another one showing the body of it.

What yall think?

I'm wasted. Seriously.

The Z32 and other 4channel ABS vehicles have the ABS sensors mounted to a flange on the rear cover that juts out in front of the ring gear, so you definitely have an S14 or late model J30 rear cover. The diff looks to be an non viscous S14 because it doesn't have the added snout length up front, so it would have to be from either a non ABS vehicle or a vehicle with 4channel ABS. So what I'm guessing, without verification because I haven't seen one lately, is it's a Q45 diff with an S14 rear cover. The Q45 was 4channel but should have the different cover to fit the ABS sensors.

That seems the general answer so far after I posted up those pics elsewhere too. I'm currently looking it up though to get a solid answer.

Still stumped. Would anyone happen to have a source to pics or maybe a FSM to early and late model J30's and Q45's diffs?

It's not a J30. I'm certain of that, I've pulled/sold over thirty of those in the past dozen years, I know them well. I haven't messed with Q45 stuff though other than brakes and uprights, I'd go crawl under a few at the mall and take a look, you may find the answer easily.

Lol that'd be a bit suspect crawling under someone's Q45. Thanks a bunch for the info though, so far you've been the most helpful out of 3 seperate forums. I'll dig around some more on the Q45 stuff.
