How to: S13 sunroof removal

So, I'm prepping this car for paint, right?

I figure that I probably should remove the sunroof in order to paint and get it done properly.

Does anybody know if it's easy to remove the sunroof?

I haven't even tried nor looked at it yet, so I was hoping somebody could give me some pointers before I try.

thanks in advance.

It is not too bad at all just a little time consuming.

-Remove all the plastic paneling (A-pillars, sealtbelt tract plastic, Rear window paneling), remove the moulding around the sunroof, remove the sunroof controls, and headliner light. Headliners should drop down now.
-Remove headliner, could be tricky if Coupe, might need to remove seats. Should just drop down. The lights and perimiter paneling hold it up.
-There should be bolts holding the tracts for the glass. Remove bolts that hold framing.
Its time consuming. I neer took one out of a 240SX, but I have in Toyotas at work. Should be the same.

what the F are you talking about

hatches have a manual sunroof, there is no tracks or rails or anything like that.

all you do.

inside the car there are two sliders in the front of the sunroof (on second thought it MAY only be one, but i dont have my car here to look), they have little red stickers on them, you slide those out. they only go one way.

now on the back of the sunroof, there are two little buttons on the sides of the latch. push these in and the latch should swing free (just hang down)

no go outside the car.

lift up the sunroof (the latch is not connected so it should swing all the way up)

now the sunroof is pivoting on some hinges, slide the whole unit either left or right (i dont remember which) and it will come right out.

if your having trouble let me know. its very simple. I might be able to MS paint it for you

there was no mention of what car it was. do you actually believe everyone is hanging on the internet is hanging by brian's balls that they know exactly what car he has?

guy offered perfect advice if it were a coupe.

all I know is brian doesn't do searching or reading the fsm very well.

seriously, this is far from needing a how-to thread on, but whatever.

I have a hatch.
i have a build thread, so Longrain must have seen it.

Thanks Long grain for the info.

Dreamn - There is really no need to be that rude. That kind of attitude doesn't help anybody here.

I don't have a FSM.

I didn't feel like searching.
If it was easy enough, somebody should just answer it.
That was done.

end of thread. thanks.

Does this go for the S14 as well?

nope.......

180sx sunroof is quick disconnect, since it is not power and cannot slide back. its designed so that you can remove it on the fly and throw it in the trunk for some extra air flow while your cruisin....
