I am trying to find a definitive answer.

I have an SR swapped S13. It is equipped with a #63 ecu and no tuning software at all over and above this. The issue I really have is in 5th gear and that gear only, it has a rev limit of 5300 rpm. I have spent countless hours reading on this and have not come up with any answers as to why this is. Read all the transmission sensor threads only to realize that the SR trannies dont have all the sensors attached to it that the Ka trans does. Does znyone have an answer as to why this is happening?

No codes. Everything operates in tip top shape. I am nearly as fast in 4th as I am in 5th gear is all.

are you hitting 120mph? If so then you are hitting the speed cut

Well, the speedo only goes up to 110mph and I am by far, surpassing that. With the J30 gearset/diff, I am assuming its a tad over 120mph. probably by a few mph.

thats the stock governor

i forget how to get rid of it...with a KA i know you just switch to a auto ECU and your good to go, but with SR I think you have to get a tune or some kinda chip.

That's what I was coming up with as well. I was looking for reinforcement on that.

So what is giving the signal to the ecu that im in 5th gear when there's no 5th gear sensor? That makes absolutely no sense. It doesnt rev limit in any other gear. unless it does sense off the speed sensor itself. I havent gone that fast in 4th gear to eliminate that from the eqation. I didnt feel the need to rev the engine THAT high.
