Another custom intake system
Well I am bored at home and yesterday I went to home depot to get some piping for my custom intake system. I did one last week, but it really sucked. I was telling Bbandit about it and he seemed very interested. It took me about 3 hours to do everything. I didn't want to get rid of the airbox, so I cut a 3.5 inch hole into the bottom of the airbox. All of the piping that I used was 3 inches. I took the y-pipe off and increased the diameter of the small hole because my piping wouldn't have worked. The hardest part was postioning the airbox so that the hood could close. I had to put the carbon canister lower down into the engine bay. And mounted the sensor box off to the side. After that everything was easy. The car feels more responsive and noticed a 30hp gain(JK!!) My next plans are to get a cone filter to put on the end of the tubing, get a K&N filter, and design another piece that connects to the oem tubing so that I can ditch the airbox and attach tha MAF sensor. Well let me know what yall think about it and picture to come.

NICE.. add a little brake duct funnel to that, and you could actual pressurize your intake manifold at speed, and get a mild Ramair effect! that would probably produce more power than a cone filter in the same location.
EXCELLENT WORK!

Despite people bringing up old threads, I have a couple of questions for the people who did this.
I attempted something similar, but not fully sealed and I noticed that in addition to ramming air, it also rammed dust and bugs straight into my filter. It was a completely clean filter with a 3" circle of dirt where the hose came up. So my question is this: Did either of you have this on while it was raining? and if so did it ram water up into your intake? When I get comfortable racing my car stock, and get out of G Stock at autoX I was considering doing an intake like this where the battery tray is now. -Matt
