v8?
![]() those lights? ![]() if you draw a line parallel to the bottom edge of the light, right above the two bottom light elements, and make the light end there, it would look 100x better. also, with all the cost cutting, i have a feeling the interior will be no more impressive than the 350z (which isn't that impressive), with none of the technical wizardry that made the r34 so freaking cool. |

I resent that comments about americans :hammer:
IMO its not that bad. I would drive it, and I am sure it will change a bit. But Engine wise they got a lot going for them. And is it my understanding that cali is the partial reasoning to no tt V8 GTR? And whats this about an auto? I mean Americans are really getting back to manual. With all the craze about imports, and new american cars coming in stick. Why would they make this one with an auto ![]()

GTR is supposed to be a high performance car, why make an auto. I understand the G35 coming in auto cuz its a luxury sports car. But the GTR is a legendary Sports car god, why make it auto. Honestly the only people that will buy auto are rich kids who don't know a damn thing about real sports cars. The people I thought they would be advertising this car to should be mad that an auto would even exist.

When i first saw the pic i instantly thought about the old z's. actually now that i look at it, it looks like part IS300, 350z, an old Z, and a G35coupe. I really fear what the next skyline is going to look like, from all the concepts that they have released i haven't seen one that looks good.

Well according to that article there is no more Skyline, They have droped the "SKYLINE" monicker so it will only be known as Nissan GT-R... interessting
![]() And that is a G35, this is still computer generated so its not the real thing yet.

as far as an automatic: they are getting a lot better with some companies, but they still can't touch a manual. if there isn't a clutch, I'm not buying it. of course, an electronically/hydraulically-controlled manual is a different story (e.g. BMW SMG II, Ferrari/Maserati F1/Cambiocorsa)

what's all this no skyline crap? what the heck is the vl skyline then? Hmm(ok g35 here) and whats all this crap about auto's? ALL skylines AND GTR's have come with an auto package so it's not any different than any previous models.
I still think the concepyt of the GTR built back in 2000 with that huge front mount looks the nicest. please correct me if i'm wrong |

Nissan has always complained about how the GT-R was marketed in this fashion. If there were a rich person that came in to a dealer and wanted a GT-R but didn't know how to drive a Manual (or only own an A/T Driver's License), they lose a sale. They usually ended up buying the Z32 Fairlady Z or a Silvia Spec-R, since those both came with A/T as an option. This is one of the reasons they will most likely be going A/T for the new GT-R. If they can reach out to the people who want a GT-R and also drive it, they can make the sale much easier. It makes sense to market them this way. More power to 'em. As a great example, look at what Mitsubishi did with the Evolution VII. They lost all potential sales of previous Evolutions, including the Evolution VII, by not developing an A/T version of their best selling sports car. Once the Evo VII GT-A was announced, it was hard to even reserve one for yourself (trust me, I tried and was too late...) There's already rumors that Mitsubishi will be making the GT-A for the Evolution VIII. I've also been reading more about the new GT-R's engine specs and it seems that the VQ32DETT (w/electronically assisted turbos) is most likely going to happen. They have also caught rumors that this engine will use the Dry Sump system to lower the center of gravity of the entire engine and engine bay. If the Wet Sump was used, like the V35 or Z33 Fairlady, the engine will have to sit "high" on the mounts to make room for the upper and lower oil pans. With Dry Sump, the lower oil pan can be eliminated, therefore lowering the center of gravity to create better handling. As for why VQ32DETT and not VQ35DETT (like they're using in their JGTC version R34) is most likely because of emissions. Nah, really, I dunno... |

Lower displacement + lower compression + electronically assisted turbo's = High Revving Badassness with TONS of potential.
I wet myself at the thought of a twin turbo VQ32.. And if you guys didn't catch this.. the price they are talking about at $85,000 is Australian. In American Dollars that is right around (an attainable) $55,000. ![]() Also, if it's badged as an Infiniti, then it WILL indeed come with all the cool gadgetry that the old GT-R's had. The G35 is quite luxurious.
