I know a guy who is setting up a group buy for CF B14 200sx trunks. I'm sure if there was enough interest he could set something up for S14s. If 95+ all share the same size trunk I would think there would be a significant interest.

I think he meant carbon fiber the wing. Go to rsversion.com if you want a carbon fiber wing under $150. Hey, Sil80girlie, you are very beautiful. Too bad you have a BF.

Yes I meant a Carbon Fiber Wing but i want an OEM style Nissan S14 Carbon Fiber wing. not what you linked too. and I want it on a CF trunk lid. the only GT style wing i'd ever consider putting on my car is the R1 mini Drag GT wing. like 2" tall with that GT wing look. very nice looking

We only use epoxy resin with our carbon products. The piece can be full carbon, carbon/kevlar or carbon/e-glass. Just depends on what you want.

Technically, there is no such thing as "fibreglass resin". There are three main types of resins used in the composite field. Polyester, vinylester and epoxy. Bondo ("fibreglass resin") is polyester and on their packaging they call it "fiberglass resin". However any type of resin can be used with any materials. Most the general public does not understand the differences between the materials and will buy whatever is cheaper, eventhough they are buying an inferior product. Consumers are not properly informed when it comes to composites' construction. There are 10's of combinations that can be done when building composite products. The cheapest method is how ALL of the aftermarket parts I have seen (Veilside, Bomex, GTP, Importfan, Do-luck) manufacturers their product. Via chop gun and polyester resin. You can go all the way up to how the McLaren deveoped its' F1 road car. Full carbon with nomex core with epoxy resin and stuck in the autoclave to cure (28+ psi and 300+ degrees F). However, the general public cannot afford an autoclaved piece of carbon. We do not have and will not for a long time buy an autoclave (unless we acquire a major contract which requires it).

If you want more information about how our products are manufactured, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. It all depends on the product being built too.

Thank you for that reply aaron. I dunno if you ever will check this again or do so regularly but to me it says alot about your company that you want the end user so well informed.

I browse here very rarely, but I still have a love for the 240's. That is the car I had before I bought the Supra (Mac truck driver ran a red light and t-boned me).

I would like to break into the 240 market, but from what I have been researching, the only way to do it would be to build cheaper (lower quality parts). The polyester resin is $12/gallon (which we do not even keep in stock). The epoxy resin is $58/gallon. The carbon we use is aerospace quality, even for the interior pieces, it reflects less light and looks better, but it costs twice as much.

I have two friends with S15 conversions that I am trying to "sucker" into letting me build molds off their conversion kits so we can make some nice quality pieces.

We also like to be up front with our customers and let them know where their money is going and why. Just seeing a stock 240 carbon hood for $900, most people will close the window and move on and unless we educate the consumers about the composite world, we would never sell anything.

It is something a lot of companies dislike us for (and we have been around for less than a year). They do not like to inform the consumers about the "crap" they are buying and let them think it is the best thing out there. If you want to see some truly expensive prices, a bud of ours build racecar bodies for a living (he is the one that taught me ) You want to talk about some work that is worth it, just have to save up twice as long to afford it though.

I just do not understand how these companies get away with manufacturing products like this and consumers still buy them. The main thing is, you buy a kit, and have to pay the body man the same price for the kit to just install it. A good example.

Consumer A purchases the TRD widebody Supra kit from GTP/Importfan for ~$3000. Then spends $5000 having it installed, the "waves" sanded out of the kit (which are not there is the glass work is done properly) and prepped for paint.

Consumer B purchases the genuine TRD kit (beautiful quality) for $6500, pays the body man $2000 for install, which the TRD kit requires very little modifications to fit.

So consumer A saved $500 yet he has a body kit on his car that is a POS and will crack, flex, and weigh more than that genuine kit. It will get repainted and patched more times than I can count. It is all about saving the money now and people do not see the big picture. It is just like buying a pair of Payless running shoes (if they even make them) compare to a nice set of Nike running shoes. One cost four times more, but when your Nikes last six times longer, well the math is not difficult.

ok, I will get off my soapbox now.

please do NOT make low qualty parts
a huge portion (and growing) # of 240sx drivers are cheap poor bastards looking for handouts and discounts.

i bet you for the cf trunk only a few of this thread (very few) would actually buy it. why? everyone has an excuse

stick w/ high qualty and make a wide range or products for different cars

you will sell more the s14 guys then s13, why? because s14 gusy actually spend money for the most part

there are lots of s13 peopel who DO spend good money but for the most part, you'lll get lowballed and lots of 'give me a xxx amount of time to come up with the money'

i totally agree w/ you about the parts quality and fitment

if you want to sell stuff, stick w/ quality products. low quality 9as youknow) will just give you a bad rep and make people worry. i'd rather sell stuff at higher prcies and higher quality and hear only compliments then sell it at junk quality and low quality and get mixed reviews all day

stay high quality. please! we need more US companies to sell high quality body parts

are you open to producing your own line of body parts? specifically bumpers.

zilvia member dorifto180sx goes to art center pasadena and focus is on auto mobiles

he and i are very much into spending real money (haha) on our cars and not dreaming. he is mroe then willing to help DESIGN body kits...original kits you can sell if you are interested. he has very good taste. none of the kaminari crap. more like the stuff you see in japan and that style but for a US market

if you are intersted, shoot me a pm and ill get you in touch with him. i will forward him this thread to reply/contact you. he is very willing. and believe me, you'd be the ONLY guy in the US selling stuff like this. no worries about lawsuits from japan because it wont be a direct copy of a japan part, but tweaked for your company!

if you are serious, let me knw

dorifto180sx designed high quality CF kit.. I better start saving (even us S14 owners gotta do that too!!) I agree with Dousan (for the sake of not confusing two aarons) stay higher quality. I'd rather wait and save up my money for something nice.

heck I know ALOT of S14 owners would kill to have a set of the OEM USDM or JDM kouki sideskirts. heck I'd send mine to you for a mold if you want. (usdm kouki sides)

does anyone have one of these spoilers and might have an answer to any of these questions?

do you know what materials this spoiler is made out of
http://www.rsversion.com/details.asp?ProdID=2263

the layup schedule (how many layers of composite material, what type of material, weave orientation for each layer what type of resin)?
is there a core material or is the spoiler hollow?
the amount of downforce it appies?
has the spoiler been structurally tested, if so, how much PSI can it take before cracking?
spoiler weight?
is it adjustable?
