![]() I had the worst dream last night that there was a USDM craze in japan. Kids were throwing out yen for APC stickers, seats, mufflers,ect... left and right, people were doing cavileer and neon front end conversions on everything. Importers were making millions on altezza tails and NOS bottles. People constantly quoting scenes from [that movie] and the srt4 was one of the most hard-to get valuable car over there, only the rich tuners could get their hands on them. Is all good though cause i woke up. i guess thats what i get for drinking pepsi and watching twilight zone reruns before bed.

Nope, the Cavalier is a GM product through and through. Toyota buys them from GM - it's the flip side of the deal that game GM the Prism, and also gave Toyota some factories in the USA.

ya I used to have a cavalier, they are teh sux0rs.
They were sold in Japan as the toyota cavalier and it was RHD and everything. They actually had some cool taillights that people here in the states bought, kinda looked like camaro lights. All of them had the 2.4ltr twincam motor matched to an auto tranny... I know way too much about cavaliers ![]()

I've never been a Cavalier fan, and this is coming from a guy that owned and loved a Neon. It never had quite the nimble feel my Neon had, and just couldn't hang in the corners. The big engines like the 2.4 and the old 3.1 V6 were insanely torquey, though. |

Speaking of the Domestic side of things. I work for a car rental agency right now and I was driving the new Grand prix's that just came off the truck. And they are pretty nice performance wise for a hunk-of-junk. They have "Generation III" 3.8 V6s in them and they feel borderline V8 when drivin hard. The traction control is barely able to keep a lid on things in sharp turns, and is able to be turned off. After I joyrided the first one, I saw that we have "GTP" models as well and saw that they were supercharged. I believe it is a roots type system. I will try and get the chance to throughly test drive one of these models when the chance arrives. My co-worker reminded me that they are the best performing cars in their class. (FF,Midsize,sedan,6cylinder)? Or at least that's what the add states, on the tube. I believe this was accomplished by making the vehicle's overall dimensions smaller, while upping either the displacement or HorsePower/Torque. At least it looks/feels that way to me. The back window is only about a 1 and a half by two feet, while the metal portion of the door is huge. looks Strange when open. The rear seat passengers will feel "sunken" into the car. I'm sure. Maybe some will like it. 23 Thousand is on the sticker. 20 mpg city, 30 highway.
I would think the supercharged model should be good for at least 300 horse. This should make for some fun, We will see. The suspension was typical Pontiac, to say it was ****ty. As is true with almost all domestics usually. IMO. They should just stick with F-bodies and Vettes and such. ![]() ![]() Last edited by AutoDestruct; 08-11-2003 at 10:13 PM.. |

The suspension of the new GTP CompG model is supposed to outperform the Maxima SE. In the end, though, my midsize sedan dollar would still go a Mazda 6s or an Altima 3.5SE. Trimmer dimensions than the big, hulking GP and Maxima, lower price tags, and similar or better levels of trim...

The Mazda 6 is very nice. Quite nible as well, even with the slushbox automatic.
Driving the "Preped" ones at the mazda "rev it up" deal may make me a bit one sided though.

I agree.. the stock ones where rather "disconnected".. I think it was in the steering. Too many big rubber bushings. The springs, and sways helped a lot.
